Tsoknyi Gechak Ling

Progress in Nepal

4th Dec. 2014 (4)
Following completion of the Shedra (monastic college) and nuns’ residence at Tsoknyi Gechak Ling in Nepal, activity is now focused on finishing the Pema Chodron Drubde or retreat centre. Work also continues on the foundations for the main temple.

Rinpoche attended the inauguration of the shedra and residence in November 2014, marking the day when nuns could finally move from their cramped and crumbling old quarters to new purpose-built accommodation. Rinpoche was joined by his grandfather, Lama Tashi Dorje, mother Mayum La and wife Chime La, as well as teachers and lopons for the ceremony.
Fundraisers have praised the generosity of donors who have helped finance the project, for which $1 million more will still be needed. A new initiative is due to be announced in March 2015 which will involve the installation of 1,000 prayer wheels at the Chobar Hill site.
