More than 150 dharma students joined Tsoknyi Rinpoche in Bruton for Pundarika UK’s 2019 retreat.
Rinpoche taught from the text: Profound Instructions on the Four Syllables of Mahamudra, by Kunpang Sherab Gyamtso.
Sangha volunteers and staff from the school worked hard  to help the retreat run smoothly.
During a soirée hosted by Rinpoche, students were given a presentation on progress at Tsoknyi Gechak School, Chobar, Nepal, which has been running very successfully for 10 years now.  He shared his delight at the very high grades attained by the year 8 pupils in national exams, and we joined him in congratulating all concerned. Most attained an A grade in their English exams, a special achievement as it is unusual for monastic schools to teach English.
Rinpoche announced that the new temple will be inaugurated at a ceremony early in October next year (2020), and invited us to join the celebration.
There are plans for a Pundarika group pilgrimage to attend the ceremony, with optional excursions led by Rinpoche to holy sites in Bhutan and India. Details will be announced in October 2019.
David Hykes enhanced the evening with a performance of overtone chanting.
At the end of the retreat, there was a traditional ceremony requesting the teacher to remain as the vajra body, speech and mind.

  • Next year’s retreat will run from  30th March – 5th April 2020.  It will be an open retreat so this is an opportunity for your friends to come and receive Pointing Out instructions from Rinpoche.  These open retreats are always different, and the topic will be announced nearer the time. Booking will open in the New Year, date to be announced in the autumn.
